At school, we had this total NERD, David come to talk to us about Science. He was telling us about how cool nerds are and when someone tell you are a nerd say Thank you and he also told us what we are going to learn about today(experiments), and this is what happened….

We got into groups of 2 and had to go on a table to do that set experimentset on the table, for eg. Lndercator Mystery. This one you get to change water to colours by using chemicals not in every day life.

We had to get a tray of all different things we had to use for the experiments. Like Test tubes, measuring cups ect.

The hole purpose of this lesson is to learn about chemicals and how they react to different things.

I believe that I learnt  lot day about how chemicals reacting  to different things.

For homework 1 of the tasks is enter a post on your blog with 100-200 word review on the novel you are reading. Include a recommendation with your review. The book I have chosen is…..THE LOVELY BONES by Alice Sebold.

So this is my review:

The book is about a young girl (Susie) got murdered. She is watching her family and the man who killed her in heaven. Susie and her family are having a really hard time coping as family members are getting older and still know clues of what happened to Susie. When her sister gets allot older she starts going for runs and always runs past Susie’s killer and he is always looking at her. Now I am not going to tell you any more you will have to read it yourself.

Now I will tell you what I think of this book:

This book is one of my favourite books of all time, it would not let me put the book down. It felt as if you where really there telling the story but you don’t even know what is going to happen next.  The book  has a fantastic story line and I wish it could go on and on. I would give 5 stars and really recommend you read it.  The movie is fantastic too but you should read the book first. So please give it ago because you never know what it would be like untill you give it ago.

In class we have been set a new task. The task is to research on a topic that we don’t really know much about. The topic I have chosen is………. EGYPT.

You are probably wondering why I have chosen this topic, so are here are some reasons:

1. The history goes on and on, so I wont run out of ideas to write about.
2. The pyramids are very interesting and I would to learn about them.
3. There is lots to learn about symbolism and cant wait till I get started.
4. The way they believe and worship in things it amazing.
5. The art they do makes me want to look in to it lots more.

So they are my reasons why I have chosen EGYPT as my research topic. I am really looking foward to discovering EGYPT.

Hey everyone,

On the 7Th, 8Th and 9Th of September our class was participating in the 40 Hour Famine. Each person had to give up something for 40 hours, if it was food only 8 hours. We got a booklet and a money box so we would collect money for World Vision.

I gave up food and technology and this is my reflection:

On the 7Th of September at 8:30 pm I started giving up technology. On the 8Th at 7:30 I also started giving up food. Technology is for the whole 40 hours and food only 8 due to us only being primary school students.

I am so happy that I am helping poor countries out by raising money as I am doing this event. It also makes me feel good inside, even though you may not have raised over 20 dollars but when you think about it every dollar counts.

The reason why I chose  to go without food and technology is because most 3rd world countries dont have a lot, so that is what influenced me to go with out those for the set time period.

I am finding it really hard to go without food and technology because:

1. All you can eat is barley sugar to keep your sugar levels up.

2. Looking at others eat because it makes you hungry, but you keep going because you know your doing it for a reason.

3. You cant go on the computer to finish work that was due 1-2 days ago.

And they are my reasons why it was hard but I still enjoyed doing it because it was for a good purpose.

Give it ago even though the days are over you can still raise money and donate to World Vision.

In class we have been learning about different types of poems. Poems express emotion and present images by writing words that might rhyme or just basted on one thing. Well we have been learning about HAIKUS and how they are set up. This is how you set it up:

There are 3 lines,

1st line has 5 syllables,

2und line has 7 syllables and

3rd line has 5 syllables.

1st Haiku (open space)

The wind is quite warm.

The sun is shining brightly.

The grass in very green.

2nd Haiku(gallery walk)

Students reading other work.

Some hard to read, some not hard.

Great work was finished.

Haiku’s are really fun and some are hard to do. Give it ago and tell me how you went.

Hiya,

For the next few weeks we will be thinking about our new inquiry question, “Am I making positive connections?” Our inquiry task is to create a puppet show of a thirteen year old person that is put in an un-safe situation and how they get out of this situation. We worked in a group of four with MEZ!, Honk, Aphropollo and LOLly and each of us got one character but I (MEZ!) got two characters. The show is about a girl called Dee who gets teased about having braces and no friends that is played by Aphropollo there are the mean girls, the leader is called Darcy and she is played by MEZ!, she has two other people in her group they are Courtney and Casey LOLly plays Courtney and Honk! Plays Casey. What happens is Darcy invites Dee to come shopping with her and her friends, when they get there she tells Dee that she has to steal something to be their friends. We have not performed yet but we will in a couple of hours (maybe minuets!). Most of us are really nervous about performing this in front  the class but we will get over our nerves and perform well!

MEZ! And Aphropollo

A book club starts when a group of people wont to read the same book and when you are in the group you discuss and you agree how many pages you have to read before the next meeting, also when you are in your group you can do different activities to make it more interesting.

Well our class has just started and we have had our first meeting. In my group we are reading Courageous Dogs, we have discussed that we wont to read to chapter 4 before the time is up. Then we decided who is going to do with role. I am Illustrator because I like to draw. Other people in my group have chosen roles like Connector, Word Wizard, Summariser and Questioner.

I like doing Book Club and I would recommend it to anyone becaues it is fun and you get to talk about the books you like. So have a go and tell me what you think about it.

We were giving a task to design a deamatic re-telling of a traditional Dreaming story with 4-5 people. In my group there was 123 jam, Honk, Lamba, Zappy and of course me Aphropollo then we had to pick what story we wonted to re-act we chose How The Kangaroos Got Their Tails. In my group we all had diffrient roles, 123 jam was a Bee and also played the clapping sticks, he did really well with lots of enthusiam, Honk was one of the Kangaroos and was the choreographer of the group, she did an out standing job, Lamba was the narrator and spoke so clearly and at a good pace, Zappy did not have a big role but he did a great job with the props and helping 123 jam with the clapping sticks, and I was Kangaroo with Honk. Together we all did such a fantastic job by performing our characters.

I really liked doing this task because it helped with my group work skills and it also helped me with my understanding about what the Aboriginal people learning from there story telling. It was great fun and I really enjoyed it. While we were preparing our act, we learn’t alot about the Aboriginal people and what they do to re-tell their dreaming stories.

Sights of: Open area, hills, kids, group work, wildlife, smiles and equipment.

Sounds of: Team work, discussion, instructions, talking, laughing.

Smells of: Fresh air, camp food, roll on deodorant, suns cream.

Touch of: Activity equipment, puzzles, clay, fish, food, and camera buttons.

Taste of: Camp food, water, fish, and hot breeze.

On the 22nd of march I had a hole week off school to do the Sapsasa carnival and west beach oval. Every day it was softball this and softball that, it was fun but it was to much softball even when I have done the state team, I also had club, so it was every busy for me.

I really like softball and my positions are 1st bass and center filed but my coach but me 2nd bass and right filed and even pitcher it was really fun.

Now I carnt wait till I go back to school to see my friends and to learn something new that is not softball.
